our story.

In June 2003, Shooting Star Productions (SSP) was born.

The musical Annie was cast with 55 youth from the St. Louis and St. Charles, Missouri area. This was just the beginning of what would grow into one of the top companies for child performers in the St. Louis area.

Each year, SSP produces a summer Broadway musical featuring youth ages 5-19. In the past, our winter show tended to be a non-musical, play for younger children in K-8th. However, we have decided not to continue these productions at this time due to time constraints.

SSP provides students with quality theatrical experiences which foster creative and critical thinking skills, develop leadership, build self-confidence, and teach teamwork in a supportive, safe environment. We strongly believe that the process is just as important for the student as the product and strive to help performers discover more about themselves as they learn the fundamentals of the performing arts.

Our non-profit organization is led by an Artistic Director and Co-founder, along with an all-volunteer Board of Directors. SSP also brings in an experienced team of professionals including a Musical Director, Choreographer, Technical Director, Costume Designer, and Set Designer. Students are also routinely encouraged to participate in theater leadership by joining SSP’s Intern Program.

In a world where family time is at a minimum, Shooting Star Productions takes great pride in bringing families together as we teach all areas of theater. Parents and siblings of cast members can often be found building sets, doing makeup and hair, acting as ushers, running the Box Office, and volunteering in a variety of other ways. Here is where life-long friendships begin!
